To lessen her uncle's financial burden, Tong Xue works part-time at a cafe, and meets Mo Shao Qian (Hawick Lau), the CEO of Yuan Zhong Corporation. What Tong Xue unaware is that her father had once betrayed the Mo family by selling out the corporation and indirectly cause the death of Shao Qian's father. To save the family business, Shao Qian was forced into a political marriage with Mu Yong Fei (Wen Zheng Rong), heiress of Mu Corporation. Yong Fei loves Shao Qian very much, but her love is not return. After discovering Tong Xue's true identity, Shao Qian seeks revenge by using evidence of her uncle's embezzlement activities to blackmail Tong Xue to live with him as his mistress. As Shao Qian spends time with Tong Xue, he cannot help but fall in love with her, but his feelings are very conflicted. Things are also complicated by Tong Xue's nostalgic feelings for her first love, Xiao Shan (Li Zhi Nan).
Comment:
I started watching “Sealed with a Kiss -千山暮雪” (Opening Theme / Closing Theme) after watching a music
video of this drama in YouTube. I also read the novel thereafter. I find the plot interesting
although I have to admit Mo Shao Qian’s (Hawick Lau) character is a little sick
and I find him terrifying in the first few episodes of the drama with the
treatment Tong Xue (Ying Er) got from him. But Mo Shao Qian gradually grows on
me; though Tong Xue’s character is pathetic, I
actually find him quite pitiful too.
Hawick Lau as Mo Shao Qian |
Mo Shao Qian’s love hate relationship
with Tong Xue is kind of dismal as he fell in love with Tong Xue for real after
she is ‘force’ to become his mistress, yet he had to hate and mistreat her due
to his father’s death caused by Tong Xue’s father. In fact by doing so he is
hurting himself more than Tong Xue. Anyway I am hooked to this drama since
episode 1 and finish watching the whole drama within the next day!
There is a “Sealed with a Kiss Sequel” thereafter. However, I find the
Miniseries a disappointment due to poor storyline, though the ending is
rather positive.
Ying Er as Tong Xue |
It has been quite some time
since I last watch Hawick Lau’s drama; both he and Wallace Chung are one of my
favourite Hong Kong actors whom venture into China
entertainment industry. And I am happy for them that they did well and gain
more popularity over the past few years.
One of the things that can be
improved could be Tong Xue’s wardrobe in the drama; I personally feel that her
clothes could have been better and maybe it is because she is still a young
actress hence can also improved on her acting skills. Although Ying Er is a
little plump in “Sealed with a Kiss”, nevertheless she is in fact a very
beautiful and modest actress and her looks kind of reminds me of heroines from
comics. Providentially, she is slimmer than before when shooting the Miniseries (Sequel).
Some of my favorite scenes
from the drama:
1. A drunk Tong Xue seated beside
Mo Shao Qian by the river while uttering how she feel about him. Mo Shao Qian
stopped Tong Xue with a kiss while she talks in her sleep.
2. A jealous Mo Shao Qian shoves
Tong Xue away when she hugs him from the back, in the process Tong Xue
accidentally broken an antique vase and fall on it from the bed. Mo Shao Qian
frantically carries her to the hospital without wearing his shoes and cut his feet as a result.
Mo Shao Qian discovered by Tong Xue while playing game; Tong Xue help him break the game record. |
Tong Xue beat Mo Shao Qian. |
4. Mo Shao Qian noticed Tong Xue’s
credit card in his house after she had left few days ago and realised with joy
that she is back. Mo Shao Qian purposely went into the kitchen while Tong Xue
is preparing dinner just to catch a glimpse of her.
Drinks water as an excuse to catch a glimpse of her. |
5. Mo Shao Qian helped Tong Xue to
hair dry her wet hair while she is sleeping. Tong Xue wake up realizing she is
sleeping on Mo Shao Qian’s arm.
Mo Shao Qian drys a sleeping Tong Xue's hair. |
Wakes up in surprise. |
6. Mo Shao Qian cycled Tong Xue to
do marketing at the seaside lodge and make dinner for her.
Cycling to the market; enjoyed the dinner prepared by Mo Shao Qian together. |
7. Tong Xue discovered Mo Shao
Qian’s handphone picture of her sleeping in his arms with the message “I love
you”.
Mo Shao Qian took a picture of a unsuspecting Tong Xue sleeping in his arms.

Just discovered this show 2 days ago and just finished it, can't seem to get it off my mind. Loved every minute of it.
ReplyDeleteHi there..can u tell me that where did you watched this drama with English subtitles. Please let me know..i am dying to watch this one
DeleteDramacool
DeleteI'm just going to watch it....is the eng sub version complete?
ReplyDeletewhere do you watch it..
DeleteFinished it within three days one of my favorites for sure I wish I could read the novel but it's nowhere to be found
ReplyDeleteStrongly recommend watching this drama
Such a nice drama, isn't it? :) You may find more info on the novel here: http://seoulinlovenow.blogspot.sg/2012/11/sealed-with-kiss-novel.html
DeleteIt really is a very nice drama. Very heartbreaking. Hawick portrayed MSQ very well. Just love looking at him. He brought out those emotion very perfectly. 1 minute he can be so cold towards TX yet when she's not looking, he looks at her with so much love & longing (that look when TX was in his kitchen made my heart so pain for him). TX grew on me too, i think both of them fit well in this drama. Only her wardrobe is really wrong! Drama ending is crappy but luckily there's an epilogue from the novel about their married life so we know it's a good ending there. However the mini series is a disappointment.
ReplyDeleteI second that...btw if you like Hawick's performance, you might want to check out his other modern dramas also adapted from novels (not sure how much they follow the book) ~ A Clear Midsummer Night (Release 2013) & Heading North (Release 2014).
DeleteHey thanks for the recommendation but I don't think i can handle another crappy ending....i mean, can you give me the ending first? I cried my heart out in QSMX - i cannot handle another one. I watched some episodes of Ruyi & found the storyline not as interesting as QSMX plus his acting there didnt impress me as much as he did in QSMX. I think i'm bias. I just love MSQ to the max!
DeleteOh, btw, do you know if the novel is available in English? Now i regret not learning Chinese properly when in school!! I can't read Chinese (big sigh)!
DeleteI did not watch A Clear Midsummer Night but think should be happy ending, female lead is Yang Mi...Heading North will only release next year; Hawick is producer for both dramas.
DeleteNot sure if the novel is available in English, not that I know of. Btw, if you can understand Mandarin, you might want to check out the audio book. :)
I dont think heading north is not release yet because i could not find that drama.why does it takes so long? Is it doesn't cast on china yet... aiyooo ..
DeleteAnyway i really love SWAK. I recently come to ur web site because of ur informations about SWAK. I kept reaxing it again and again since i had been enough of SWAK novel in english translation. Cant u translate romantic scenes from that novel ? Is it a hard ? Anyway Thanks alot to u!!! :-D
Thanks (Seoul In Love). I do understand mandarin only I can't read 80% of the text. I'm not a fan of YM so i shall give those shows which has her in it a miss. Is it just me or do you feel the same? I feel HL is just 'best' as MSQ even his role at (In Love With Power) didnt impress me that much. And know what, thanks for this blog. Really love it. I still can't get over the stupid ending of the drama. The Scriptwriter should have just added (if not another scene) at least a text that said "1 year later - they got married"....!! I read somewhere that the Author might write a 3rd epilogue. Do you know if she has written? I'm sorry i can't stalk her weibo as I don't read or write chinese.
ReplyDeleteI understand, back then after finish with the drama & novel, I also feel it could be better. But knowing its FWSC's work, not too surprise as she is a famous step mum...LOL! There are some SWAK epilogue online written by fans, etc, some of them pretty good. I remember reading one, in case you are keen: (http://novel.hongxiu.com/a/399324/) Anyway do give the audiobook a chance during your free time as it help readers who can't read Chinese to enjoy the book too.
ReplyDeleteBtw, the female lead for Heading North is Zhang Li, not Yang Mi, think this drama might be a little like SWAK, hence am looking forward to it. Yup. I also feel that Hawick's marvellous with his role of Mo Shao Qian, he is definitely not as good in In Love with Power! :)
Seoul In Love - thanks. I shall try to attempt reading those epilogue by fans. I searched for it yesterday it was written in chinese which is a big headache for me. May i ask, the audiobook, is it foc? It's also all written in chinese.....
ReplyDeleteIt's my pleasure! Yup, you may download or listen online for FOC: (http://www.ysts8.com/Yshtml/Ys6642.html)
DeleteSend me an email/comment if you have any other enquiries, etc, enjoy! :)
Seoul In Love - thanks again! Hope is not too much to ask. But if you do come across the 3rd epilogue, can you pls write it. I'll check here regularly. You know what, I tried to watch the drama a 2nd time, can only manage up to episode 10 than my heart start to break again when TX left home after she found out her Uncle's betrayal. Than we see how MSQ looked everywhere for her....my heart broke again. I still cannot handle it. (Shame on me).
ReplyDeletethis would definitely be included in my list of fave Asian dramas! Just wonderin' why they didn't include the epilogue in the drama itself?!? could have been perfect ;)
ReplyDeleteExactly how i feel too! Should just include 1 more scene, or if a scene is too time consuming, even a text would do, just let viewers know they got married!! All our tears/heartache would not go to waste. Imagine those who don't know about the novel would not know the real ending. Drama ending sucks & is depressing.
ReplyDeleteI love the drama so much......it is so cool...i mean the hero, hawick lau's domineering , aggressive and loving behavior makes me fall in love with him again and again..tong xue's also become my love...i love her and her character so much...it is a joy to watch them acting together.love it
ReplyDeleteThe miniseries is terrible & I advise (anyone) to give it a miss. The plot & the script is poorly written. Mo Shao Qian did not one bit looked like his original look in the main drama. In the miniseries he dressed horribly with the beanie, the black outfit almost throughout the entire show & the huge spectacle. One cannot see his eyes expression unlike in the main drama, one could see his eyes expression so clearly! Whoever saw to his clothings in the miniseries ought to be reprimanded. I mean, cancer? Loss of memory? Haven't we the fans of QianShanMuXue cried our heart out in the main drama? At least the part 2 should go along the storyline of what the Author had written in the epilogue of the novel. Fans would love to see how they reunite again, their marital life, MSQ struggles to bring up his Company & probably MYF trying her best to seduce MSQ...these are stuff the fans of QSMX can relate to. The reason why he's so much loved is due to his unfailing love towards TX at all cost. I must really praise the Scriptwriter for the main drama for a truly good script. The main drama was really a good drama worth watching but the miniseries....a big disappointment.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone knows chinese mainland or hong kong dramas(not korean or taiwanese ) similar with this one . I mean a drama with a dominant male character , a force love in the beginning but where the protagonists fall in love at some point
ReplyDeleteYou may want to check out Mainland drama, Rich Man Poor Love; its a drama from couple of years ago, also adapted from c-novel by Zhong Mo. I don't really like the ending but Deng Chao's acting is excellent!
DeleteYou can try 'lian lian bu wang' (loving, not forgetting) by Jerry Yan & Tong Liya. Not as intense as SWAK main drama but you'll enjoy the father-son relationship though (Jerry & son).
DeleteCan you tell me what episodes are your favorites scenes from? Thanks
ReplyDeleteI cant rem exactly as some episode versions are shorter, but think, No 1 is ep 4, 2 is ep 5, 3 is ep 9/10, 4 is ep 19, etc, and the last few scenes 6 and 7 shd b towards the end btw ep 26 to 28.
DeleteThanks!!!
DeleteFrom wich episodes your favorite moments came from???
ReplyDeleteLove every episodes of these drama. Glad it was not draggy. I like dramas that are not draggy and I think best in less than 35 episodes!
ReplyDeleteWhere can I watch the sequel miniseries of SWTK episode 3... driving me crazy because english Sub doesn't fit with the Movies...I cant understand What TX Said to MSQ before she kiss him gently....?
ReplyDeletethank to your article i want to watch this
ReplyDeleteif you could help where i can watch with english subs sealed of a kiss
thank you
It's a very emotional drama which I really loved to watch. But the ending was quite painful. After going through thick and thin, if there was a glimpse of sunshine, the hardship would have paid off. Love and togetherness could have a different meaning.
ReplyDeleteThis drama had a second Season. Can anyone tell me how can i find the episode with English subtitle??
ReplyDeleteWhere can i Watch the season 2 with eng sub? I am just dying
